The Four Pillars of Sanatan Dharma

Sanatan Dharma, also known as Hindu Dharma or Vedic Dharma, is based on four primary pillars that guide the way of life and moral principles within this religion:

  • Satya (Truth)

Satya means living a life of truth and honesty in thought, word, and action. It involves being sincere and upholding integrity while avoiding deceit or falsehood. Practicing Satya builds trust, harmony, and righteousness, which are essential for both personal growth and societal well-being.

  • Tapa (Penance)

Tapa refers to self-discipline and control over desires to achieve purity of mind and spiritual growth. By embracing simplicity and practicing restraint, one can rise above material distractions and focus on higher goals. Tapa strengthens willpower and fosters inner peace.

  • Daya (Compassion)

Daya is the virtue of empathy and kindness towards all living beings. It teaches us to understand the pain of others and help alleviate it without expecting anything in return. Compassion fosters non-violence (Ahimsa), strengthens relationships, and promotes peace and coexistence in the world.

  • Dana (Charity)

Daan is the act of selfless giving to those in need. It reflects generosity and humility, reducing selfishness and promoting equality. Charity in any form—be it food, money, or knowledge—uplifts society and brings fulfillment to both the giver and the receiver.
